Things to Do

Popular Dowdy Park for the kids, Putt-Putt, and two beach accesses are all within 1 1/2 blocks away.  Tortuga's Lie raw bar is across the street and Lucky 12 Restaurant is 2 blocks away.  The OBX Family YMCA is just across Rt. 158 (By-Pass) 2 1/2 blocks away.  Food Lion grocery store and Booty Treats ice cream is four blocks away while the Red Drum Seafood Restaurant is six blocks away.  The Nags Head Fishing Pier which has fishing, a restaurant, and an open-air sport's bar is a pleasant walk down the beach (approx. 1/3 miles each way).

A short drive away is the Wright Brothers Memorial, an Outlet Mall, Elizabethan Gardens, The Lost Colony Play, the North Carolina Aquarium, Jockey's Ridge State Park, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Charter Boat Fishing, golfing, bowling, and movie theaters.  Nearby fishing piers include the eco-friendly state of the art Jenette's Fishing Pier (Aquarium also), the Avalon Fishing Pier, the Kitty Hawk Pier, and the Nags Head Pier.  Fish Heads Bar & Grill is a popular night spot with live music located on the Outer Banks Fishing Pier at mile post 18.

Also, if you are up for a little ride, it is a nice drive northbound on Rt. 12 to visit the Currituck Lighthouse, the historic Whalehead Club in Corolla, or even venture for a drive on the beach north of Corolla where you may see the wild Spanish Mustang horses that roam the beach. Less than 30 minutes away, across the Currituck Bridge is a hidden gem, the H2OBX Waterpark.  A southbound ride on Rt. 12 across Oregon Inlet will take you through the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and then to Cape Hatteras National Seashore to visit the Cape Hatteras Light House.  For a real adventure, catch the Ocracoke Ferry at Cape Hatteras to Ocracoke Island.
